THE SUNDAY TIMES TOP 10 BESTSELLER Calum Best should have had it all. As the only son of world-famous footballing legend George Best and his first wife Angie, a gorgeous English model, Calum was born into a world of privilege and opportunity. But his father’s fame came at a price, and George’s playing career was soon overshadowed by his playboy lifestyle and an increasing dependence on the comforting embrace of alcohol. Whilst his tumultuous later years could never diminish the memories of the peerless, often breathtaking, quality of his football, they had a profound effect on Calum. Growing up with his mother in California, Calum’s visits to see his father in England were all too rare, and he cherished every moment he could spend in the company of the man he adored. But as George’s alcoholism spiralled out of control, inebriation frequently led to violence and George’s self-destruction spilled over onto his son. Vivid, deeply moving, brave and honest, Second Best is the heart-breaking story of their relationship. It is a powerful tale of love and suffering, of an absent father and his wayward son, and of a family torn apart by addiction.

** THE NEW BOOK FROM THE AWARD-WINNING COMEDIAN AND WRITER** 'Mitchell is an exceptionally clever, eloquent and spot-on commentator. We should be grateful for him.' Daily Mail David Mitchell's 2014 bestseller Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse must really have made people think - because everything's got worse. We've gone from UKIP surge to Brexit shambles, from horsemeat in lasagne to Donald Trump in the White House, from Woolworths going under to all the other shops going under. It's probably socially irresponsible even to try to cheer up. But if you're determined to give it a go, you might enjoy this eclectic collection (or eclection) of David Mitchell's attempts to make light of all that darkness. Scampi, politics, the Olympics, terrorism, exercise, rude street names, inheritance tax, salad cream, proportional representation and farts are all touched upon by Mitchell's unremitting laser of chit-chat, as he negotiates a path between the commercialisation of Christmas and the true spirit of Halloween. Read this book and slightly change your life! 'Mitchell combines breathtaking general knowledge with withering wit.' Guardian
I would like this book to inspire many single individuals. Living a single lifestyle calls for temperance and patience however it comes with discipline. I experience it and have a testimony that I'm willing to share. I had to realize, I am God’s creation, a special Ruby who should be valued to the up most respect and care. With everything I had to overcome with God’s help and by trusting God. I made it through and on to the next level. I realize that true love does exist no matter how you might doubt it because of past experiences. Hold on to Hope and remind yourself “God is Love.” Always remember you are No One’s Second Best. You belong to God and He gives good gifts. Have patience and never give up on you.
Heaven sent? Luke Provere was all Gaby had ever wanted in a man and more—tall, dark and devilishly handsome. Gaby had taken one look into his smoldering black eyes and fallen—hard. But it hadn't taken her long to discover that Luke was well and truly out of circulation. He might just as well have been married already. With another woman for a rival she would have stood a fighting chance, but the dating game held no interest for Luke and, whatever the temptation, Gaby knew she couldn't argue with God! There was nothing she could do—unless, of course, there was someone up there on her side…. "Rebecca Winters writes powerful, moving stories—filled with passion, betrayal and a love so strong as to overcome all obstacles…" —Affaire de Coeur
The murder of Abraham Lincoln set off the greatest manhunt in American history. From April 14 to April 26, 1865, the assassin, John Wilkes Booth, led Union cavalry and detectives on a wild twelve-day chase through the streets of Washington, D.C., across the swamps of Maryland, and into the forests of Virginia, while the nation, still reeling from the just-ended Civil War, watched in horror and sadness. James L. Swanson's Manhunt is a fascinating tale of murder, intrigue, and betrayal. A gripping hour-by-hour account told through the eyes of the hunted and the hunters, this is history as you've never read it before.
