Every Christian feels the effects of the spiritual warfare that takes place in the unseen, supernatural dimension. It's felt when temptation strikes. It's felt in the struggles between making right and wrong choices. It's felt through a wide variety of influences all around us. How can believers protect themselves? Current issues expert Kerby Anderson surveys the Bible's guidelines for dealing with spiritual warfare and provides answers to the hard questions people are asking: What is the key to victory over temptation and sin? Is Satan for real, and how does he influence us? Can a believer be demon possessed? What do angels do, and how are they different from people? How can Christians keep from being spiritually deceived? This clear and concise guide deals with the many misconceptions people have about Satan, demons, angels, and spiritual warfare. A helpful resource for standing strong in the faith.

The author looks at spiritual warfare and shows how, from Satan's creation to his ultimate defeat at Calvary, Jesus Christ has been absolute victor over the devil. Our task, as believers, is not to fight Satan, but to consistently believe that Jesus completely defeated him.

Book Review:

HOW TO WAGE SPIRITUAL WARFARE by J.M. Longstaff What part should we, as Christians, play in the constant Conflict, which is raging between the angels of God and the demons, or fallen angels, directed by Satan? What are the symptoms of demonic oppression? What are the symptoms of demon-possession? How can a man or a woman render himself, or herself, vulnerable to demonic invasion? How can we distinguish between demon-possession and mental illness? The author answers these questions in this book. He examines the occult, the cost of occult involvement, and the dangers of spiritism and mediumship. He emphasizes the victory which the Lord Jesus Christ, our Head, has won, by His blood, over the powers of darkness, and he explains how we, the members of His body on earth, should appropriate the victory in the ministry of deliverance. He concludes by citing examples from his own experience. After a distinguished military career on three continents, including six years of war, the author heeded the Lord's clear call to the ministry. He transferred to the Reserve and entered Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, to study theology. He passed the General Ordination Examination and obtained a diploma in Counselling. He was ordained as an Anglican Minister in 1958, but later transferred to the Baptist Ministry. He soon found that the main talents, which the Lord had given him, were for counselling and the ministry to the sick. He gained the knowledge, which he imparts in this book. through careful observation, the counselling of the nervously ill, the mentally ill, the demonically oppressed and the demon-possessed, and by diligent study and research.

Even though they lack the words to describe it, most people know that spiritual warfare is real. This book pulls back the curtains and gives the reader a front row seat to the most exciting show of our time. Each chapter pairs riveting personal stories with solid biblical teaching to give the reader practical guidelines for defeating Satan and living a victorious Christian life. Perhaps you feel like Peter felt when Jesus commanded him to leave the safety of his boat and step upon the tempestuous sea. Because he trusted Jesus, he obeyed him. Later, Jesus told the disciples that they would do greater things. This book will help you find the courage to step out of your comfort zone and walk into the world of power ministry. Thankfully, a series of profound encounters with evil supernaturalism forced me to overcome my internal resistance to spiritual warfare. After I learned how to flow with the Spirit, defeat the enemy, and set the captives free, my life has never been the same. Are you ready to join the battle?
